Nephrology and urology

Also known as: CKD-Stadien (KDIGO) · Stadien der chronischen Niereninsuffizienz · KBH evreleri (KDIGO) · CKD stages (KDIGO G and A categories)

What it is for

Chronic kidney disease (CKD): abnormalities of kidney structure or function present for at least 3 months, with implications for health. It is classified by cause, glomerular filtration rate (GFR) category and albuminuria category (CGA).

Classification

CategoryDescription
GFR categories (eGFR in ml/min/1.73 m²)G1 ≥90 normal or high; G2 60-89 mildly decreased; G3a 45-59 mildly to moderately decreased; G3b 30-44 moderately to severely decreased; G4 15-29 severely decreased; G5 <15 kidney failure. Without markers of kidney damage, G1 and G2 are not CKD.
Albuminuria categories (urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio, ACR)A1 <30 mg/g (<3 mg/mmol) normal to mildly increased; A2 30-300 mg/g (3-30 mg/mmol) moderately increased; A3 >300 mg/g (>30 mg/mmol) severely increased.
Risk of adverse outcomes by G and A together (KDIGO heat map)low (green) G1-G2 with A1; moderately increased (yellow) G1-G2 with A2, G3a with A1; high (orange) G1-G2 with A3, G3a with A2, G3b with A1; very high (red) G3a with A3, G3b with A2 or A3, and G4-G5 with any A category.
