Sources and Legal Basis
Last updated: 2026-10-21
Medelix is an information and research tool for healthcare professionals. Every statement is backed by its source. Here we explain how we use sources and on what legal basis.
Referencing instead of reproducing. We cite guidelines, summaries of product characteristics and studies with title, publisher, year and a link to the original. We render medical recommendations in our own words. Facts and scientific findings are not protected by copyright, only their specific wording.
Short quotations. We show verbatim excerpts only where they support a specific statement: short, unaltered, with source attribution and link. The basis is the right of quotation (§ 42f UrhG Austria, § 51 UrhG Germany) or the licence of the source.
Openly licensed works (e.g. Creative Commons CC BY): We use them under the terms of the licence. For every source we name the author and link to the original.
Official medicinal product information (summaries of product characteristics from the regulatory authorities): We quote short sections and always link the original document with its date. The current summary of product characteristics is always authoritative.
Works without an open licence, such as guidelines from medical societies: We name and link them and render their content in our own words. We do not publish full texts.
Reservations of use. We respect reservations by rights holders against text and data mining (§ 42h(6) UrhG, § 44b(3) UrhG).
No affiliation. The mention of a medical society, authority, journal or trademark does not imply any collaboration with, endorsement by or review by it. Trademarks belong to their owners.
For rights holders. If you believe that we may not use your work in this way, write to contact@medelix.ai. We review every notice and promptly remove content if it may not be used.
