What it is for
Blood pressure (BP) categories of the 2024 European Society of Cardiology (ESC) guideline for adults, based on office BP. The guideline uses three categories instead of the older grade-based scheme (the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) 2023 grades are a separate card):
Classification
| Category | Description |
|---|---|
| Non-elevated BP | office BP below 120/70 mmHg. |
| Elevated BP | office systolic BP 120-139 mmHg or diastolic BP 70-89 mmHg. |
| Hypertension | office systolic BP 140 mmHg or more or diastolic BP 90 mmHg or more (unchanged threshold). |
