Garden classification
Trauma and orthopaedics
Also known as: Garden-Klassifikation (Schenkelhalsfraktur) · Garden sınıflaması (femur boyun kırığı) · Garden classification (femoral neck fractures)
What it is for
Grades intracapsular (subcapital) femoral neck fractures by completeness and displacement on the anteroposterior radiograph.
Classification
| Category | Description |
|---|---|
| Garden I | incomplete fracture, including the valgus-impacted fracture. |
| Garden II | complete fracture without displacement. |
| Garden III | complete fracture with partial displacement; the head is tilted into varus, so its medial trabeculae no longer line up with those of the acetabulum. |
| Garden IV | complete fracture with full displacement; the head fragment falls back into a neutral position in the acetabulum and its trabeculae realign with the pelvic trabeculae. |
| Common simplification | Garden I–II = undisplaced; Garden III–IV = displaced. |
